Spectator Safety Tips for QC Storm Hockey Games

QC Storm games are a favorite pastime in the Quad Cities area because they are family-friendly and entertaining. With the start of the 2024 – 2025 season just around the corner, the Moline injury lawyers at Winstein, Kavensky & Cunningham thought sharing a few spectator safety tips would be a good idea.

As hockey fans and injury attorneys serving Moline, IL, we’ve seen firsthand the impact of arena slip-and-falls, parking lot pedestrian and car collisions, and the occasional random injury from a rogue puck or improperly secured sign.

Hopefully, none of these incidents happen to you, but if you do get injured while attending a hockey game at Vibrant Arena at The Mark, contact Winstein, Kavensky & Cunningham to schedule a free consultation by calling 309-794-1515 or submitting a FREE online form.

Spectator Safety Tip #1: Be Aware of Your Surroundings

Hockey game theme nights make for a fun outing for families, fans, and non-hockey fans alike. Per the listed schedule online, the 2024-2025 season offers a variety of activities. Here’s a sample of future game theme nights:

  • Saturday, October 19, against Peoria Rivermen (Opening Night)
  • Friday, November 1, against Peoria Rivermen (Beetlejuice Night)
  • Friday, November 8, against Fayetteville Marksmen (Salute to Military)
  • Saturday, November 9, against Fayetteville Marksmen (Rock & Roll Night)
  • Friday, November 22 against Evansville Thunderbolts (Star Wars Night)
  • Wednesday, November 27, against Evansville Thunderbolts (Blackout Wednesday w/ Dollar Beers)
  • Saturday, November 30, against Peoria Rivermen (Check the Halls)
  • View the December through April schedule here

While attending any of these hockey games, it’s essential to always be aware of your surroundings outside and inside the arena. Though the arena has a seating capacity of 12,000, the average QC Storm game attendance for the previous year was approximately 3,700.

Even at a quarter capacity, you may come close to other fans while seated, waiting in lines, walking in the parking lot, and driving in and out of the arena parking lot. Awareness of your surroundings is a crucial spectator safety tip for staying safe in any environment, especially in high-energy settings like sports arenas.

Spectator Safety Tip #2: Gear to Leave at Home

The Vibrant Arena has a strict “no bag” policy. Exceptions include small clutch purses that are 5″ x 7″ x 2″ or smaller. Small diaper bags are allowed when entering with a child age three and younger. Clear bags of larger size are not permitted.

Additional items that you will need to leave at home include:

  • Outside food and beverage, including water
  • Laser pointers, cans, bottles, knives, weapons, explosives, fireworks, and any materials deemed harmful
  • Cameras with detachable lenses and selfie sticks
  • Pets or animals (except service animals), beach balls, frisbees, helium balloons, and noisemakers deemed inappropriate for the event
  • By the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act (430ILCS 66/65), no firearms are permitted within the Vibrant Arena

Smokers should also be aware that the Vibrant Arena is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is only allowed on exterior terraces. Sports arenas implement guidelines and procedures to help increase spectator safety and the safety of anyone visiting or working at the venue.

Tip #3: Take Advantage of On-site Security Services

The Vibrant Arena has implemented enhanced security measures at its entrances. However, if you ever feel in danger at the arena, seek assistance from a stadium security guard. Security is also an excellent main point of contact should you get injured while at the venue out of negligence or someone else’s reckless behavior.
